It’s worthwhile once a year to do something that scares the absolute sh*t out of you. For some, that might be public speaking. For others, that might be running a marathon.
What if at the beginning of this month, you sat down with your team and discussed something that made you each scared or uncomfortable and then set out to conquer that fear over the next 365 days?
Schedule a time for personal goal setting as a team. Plan for this Playbook to be completed over a period of two weeks.
Understanding how to set a proper goal is almost 90% of the battle. A useful way of making goals more powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic. While there are plenty of variants, SMART usually stands for:
* S – Specific (or Significant)
* M – Measurable (or Meaningful)
* A – Attainable (or Action-Oriented)
* R – Relevant (or Rewarding)
* T – Time-bound (or Trackable)
For example, instead of having "To sail around the world" as a goal, it is more powerful to use the SMART goal "To have completed my trip around the world by December 31, 2027."
Obviously, this will only be attainable if a lot of preparation has been completed beforehand!
There are no restrictions, and it doesn't have to be work related. After the two weeks are over, let's meet as a team to discuss!
And remember, they need to be Pennywise in a sewer drain level scary!
