Google, for quite some time now, has encouraged employees to dedicate 20% of their time working on side projects. Many believe this is the very reason they've continued to kick-ass from an innovation standpoint for so long.
Some of the company’s biggest products (such as Google maps) were created as a direct result of this “side-hustling”.
Innovation Month is here! For the next 30 days, we as a team can take 20% of our work day to focus on whatever side projects you may choose, as long as they benefit our team.
Leadership will create a shared document to input your side-hustle. All it needs is a name and an elevator pitch. No need for approval or sign-offs.
Like any Playbook, this is not mandatory however if you do decide to take part in this Playbook, we will ask you to present your idea at the end of the month. From there, we can mutually decide if it's a marketable idea that we as a team can put resources behind.
